Practically every
website claims to offer the cheapest car insurance in Britain. This
is a little less than factual in all cases because there is no one
insurer that is cheaper than the rest just as there are no two
policies which are identical and no two customers who are identical
and with the same requirements either. Some companies specialise in
insuring younger drivers, ( Admiral is an example ) who are
generally more risky and consequently shunned by some other
insurers; others like Saga prefer older clients and claim that they
can offer lower premiums as a result. In the middle ground there are
a whole host of companies battling for customers through heavy
advertising and, often, deep discounting. To make it more difficult
to choose between them, many of them have special offers which
change regularly so it can get really difficult for an average
motorist to find the best deal available. One answer should be the
mass of comparison sites which have sprung up recently but there is
a particular danger in buying from sites like these; the policies
they offer are not identical, the reputations of the companies for
trouble-free payouts in the event of claims are not the same, the
'extras' over and above the basic mandatory cover are different,
policy excesses (the sum you have to pay yourself before an insurer
will settle a claim) vary wildly so there is a risk that clients
will make buying decisions based on price and price alone, sometimes
leaving themselves dangerously under-insured. |
